Opening on 16 November, the free 2018 highlights exhibition of 34 images records the beauty and drama of the natural world, from tiny insects to massive mammals.

See the winning images from each category, awarded by a panel of judges for their creativity, originality and technical excellence.

This year's competition attracted over 45,000 entries from professionals and amateurs.

Now in its fifty-fourth year, the full exhibition is on at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington until 30 June 2019.
